It was a great turnout for the Captain's Cup on Saturday, with fourteen players competing in one of the few stroke-play competitions we play, and at one of the finest golf courses in Belgium!
And, the competition was extremely close, with the winner decided by a count-back of the scoring, since they had the same net score! Even more, there was only one stroke difference between first and third, and only two strokes difference between first and fourth place!
Of course, while a great competition, it was also a great time among great friends in the NATO Golf Club, old and new alike. Ramon played his first NGC event with us on Saturday. On the left, you can see the great lag and power he generates! (I won't mention where the ball went...)
Ultimately, Joe O'Leary took first place with a net score of just three over par, and winning on countback with a back-nine score of net even par. In her first competition with us, Di took second place with a net score of three over par also. And Jonas was in third place with a net score of four over par. Rounding out the rest of the net scores under 80 was Ken, with a net score of five over par.
Arvid having fun with an imaginary Joe, who had to depart before the prize-giving, and Di, our second place finisher:
As for the spot prizes, Rick got closest to the pin on a short par 3 that was about 30-40 yards below the tee box in elevation, so he picked the right distance! And Guillaume hit a monster of a drive on the 17th...none of us following could even see the tee marker! (Well, it was beyond a bit of a ground-swell, so....)
Rick marking what ultimately won as closest to the pin and Arvid having fun with an imaginary Rick receiving his prize; Guillaume receiving the longest drive prize.
Our next event is a friendly golf event at Rigenee on Saturday 9 November. I hope that we can have as good a turnout at that event as we had this weekend at Bercuit!!!
